The First National Conference on Tobacco or Health, held from January 27 to 29, 2006, was a pivotal event in India’s tobacco control journey. Organized by Action Council against Tobacco – India (ACT-India) on behalf of the Advocacy Forum for Tobacco Control (AFTC), the conference brought together stakeholders to address the significant health, economic, and environmental impacts of tobacco use, while promoting smoke-free public areas.
